now you're seven | my life

this past weekend our oldest princess celebrated her seventh birthday!

i say it every year, and for every birthday they have, but...
where did the time go?!

i have been feeling a little bad that i don't have nearly as many captures from her day as i do of her sisters,
but she's also at an age where she doesn't want me clicking away all the time and i have to have her approval on what i can and can't post.

and although she's not smiling in ANY of the photos
she told us it was,
"the BEST birthday EVER!"

we started the day off with her favorite pancakes.
the girls call them "princess pancakes"...
not sure why but, that's what they are known as.

we then spent the afternoon having a painting party at hotplate with her friends.

14 little girls sounds a bit scary and i'll admit i was pretty nervous,
but they were awesome and we received numerous compliments
from the staff on how well behaved they all were.
(yay! be proud parents!)

we incorporated the whole painting theme into some fun props for photo ops + into the snacks - french painter mustaches and berets - chocolate dipped "paintbrush" pretzels - sweet treats inside of some little buckets that i thought resembled paint cans -
and colorful cupcakes served on wooden paint palettes.

the weekend was a bit of a blur as saturday was filled with birthday fun
and sunday was celebrating easter with family of course.

the partying continues into this weekend with cousins coming up to visit!

march is quite the month in the lein house :)
it also is unfortunately not a great time for outdoor sessions,
so we'll be doing their "birthday shoots" once the snow is gone
and the grass and trees are nice and green!

below you'll see a mix of camera and iPhone shots from the day...
